Teamwork…

imgp1540.jpg Being part of a team is critical. If one man goes down, the ship should still sail on as if nothing happened. It’s a good feeling to look around you and see people dedicated, working their asses off and to know they share the same values and work ethic you do. When you’re knee deep in the shit and your hair is about to catch on fire and when you can’t possibly manage one more ticket, or one more pickup, you should be able to look at the guy across from you and 1 of 2 things should be clear to you. Either 1, he laughs and says, “cheer up it gets worse” cause he’s either in the shit himself, has been there before, or is about to be there, or 2 he picks up a pan, or a plate, and starts slingin’…

But what if you are the team? What if you go down, does that mean the ship does too? What if you fracture your skull, or get abducted by aliens, or lock yourself in the trunk of your car and you can’t make it in? Then what? They close the kitchen, put out the lights in the dining room and say “sorry folks, no food tonight.”

No amount of money is worth carrying the entire load. Seriously…

We are a litigious people. More often than not, i think it’s bullshit. People are too fat so they sue the corporation that sold them the food they pigged out on for all those years. Or they’re dying from cancer because they smoked all of their lives, yet it’s the tobacco companies fault for selling them something they knew was bad for them before they bought it.
Sometimes though, somebody gets sued, and in the back of your head, you kind of think they deserved it. This one is like that. It went down in my backyard, and i happen to be familiar with all parties involved. Sometimes all you have to do to save your ass is apologize. Even a half assed politically correct almost apology like Bill Clinton did after Monica would do. Instead these people suggest they did nothing wrong. And so they get what they deserve…
